While browsing through the SAG awards dress photos this evening, I came across this ad for American Apparel. Now, I don’t know about you, but this ad only evokes 3 thoughts from me (none of which are “I want to buy…”):
a) I never want to experience the “tank thong”.
b) What was AA thinking using an illustration that looks like it came out of an instructional sex position pamphlet?
c) Why exactly is the woman in the illustration bent over, standing on her tip toes, presenting her butt to us? Please, spare us the graphic details, we all know what a thong is.
Originally retailing at $98, this racer back tiered tank by Patterson J Kincaid is on sale at SouthMoonUnder for $39.20 + an extra 25% off using code: EXTRA25 through Monday 1/31!
I had a chance to try on the J Brand Earhart Flight Pants today and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked them. Unlike the houlihans that, lets face it, don’t really look good on anyone under 5’7″ or weighing more than 115 pounds, these pants were both comfortable and flattering. Although, I do recommend sizing down in them because they run a bit large. You can dress them up with nude heels and a fitted blouse or wear them casually with strappy sandals and a slouchy tee.
If $235 is a little steep for you (I know it is for me), there are some alternatives out there that can get you the same look for less:

One of the hottest, must have items for the Fall was the chambray shirt. So, how can you take this wardrobe essential and refresh it for Spring?
Take some hints from these 4 looks:
Look 1: This simple yet flirty look pairs the shirt with short black shorts, opaque tights and flat, brown, lace up boots. The emphasis here is on the legs, so keep the shirt buttoned all the way up.
Look 2: Take a more feminine approach by layering your chambray shirt over a floral blouse and using a skinny belt to accentuate your waistline. Relaxed fit, faded jeans and some platform wedge sandals complete this soft spring look.
Look 3: Mix preppy with flirty by layering a striped, scoop neck sweater over your chambray shirt. A floral pleated skirt and strappy sandals complete this springtime look.
Look 4: Class it up with high waisted, pleated shorts or trousers and a tucked in blouse. The chambray shirt acts as a casual accent and gives the look just the edge it needs.

One must have for the upcoming spring season is a pair of high waisted shorts. Not only can you pair them with feminine blouses for a fun and flirty look, but you can also wear them to work paired with a simple tank, your favorite blazer and some hight heeled booties.
I got this great piece of style inspiration from ShopBop‘s new splash graphic today featuring 3 great short suiting looks:
Here are some great deals on high waisted shorts for spring:
Originally $199, these clean cut suit pants are available in a size 2 for only $34. If that isn’t a steal, I don’t know what is.
Available in 2 very neutral and versatile colors of grayish blue, these cardigans are great transition pieces for spring. If you live anywhere in the northern US, you know that it stays pretty cold through about mid April. Blanket cardigans provide a good amount of warmth in the winter, but are also very drapey and flowy, fitting nicely into many layered spring looks. The great thing about this blanket cardigan in particular is that it has a single button closure at the left shoulder, allowing for even more styling possibilities.
Winter Styling: Pair with medium-dark skinny jeans, a navy or black fitted sweater, grey booties and an accent scarf.
Spring Styling: Pair with lighter, flared jeans, an ivory or pale pink shirt, nude heels and a pale pink handbag
